United Nations Says America Is Greener Under Trump, Doesn't Need To Rejoin Paris Climate Accord

Under President Donald Trump, the United States has reduced its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by such a level that the United Nations said it sees no reason for it to rejoin the Paris Climate Accord.

Earlier this month, the United Nations (UN) released its Emissions Gap Report 2020. This report is an annual assessment of contributions to greenhouse gas and carbon emissions from around the world.

The report has, by mandate of it being generated by the UN – an organization that desperately seeks to be a global governing body, some spectacular claims, including the paradox that “despite a brief dip in carbon dioxide emissions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the world is still heading for a temperature rise.”

But in a rare moment of ingenuous clarity by the body, the UN has concluded that the United States need not rejoin the Paris Climate Accord.

The UN’s report as evidence, supports the idea that the US should simply continue on its present path to continue to cut its own emissions.

The UN’s report shows that the US is the most successful major country at mitigating its own pollution.

According to the report, “the United States of America emits 13 per cent of global GHG emissions.” Comparatively, “China emits more than one-quarter of global GHG emissions.”

Over the last decade, the country’s GHG emissions have been in decline (0.4 percent per year). Greenhouse gas emissions per capita in the United States are dropping sharply while those of China, India and Russia continue to rise.

And much to the chagrin of those like US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who are pushing the sovereignty-killing proposal known as the Green New Deal, the United States made these emissions improvements while refusing to participate in the Paris Climate Accord.

In 2017, President Trump and his team said that if the United States remained a part of the Paris Climate Accord, “compliance with the terms of the Paris Accord and the onerous energy restrictions it has placed on the United States could cost America as much as 2.7 million lost jobs by 2025 according to the National Economic Research Associates.”

In the end, President Trump has been a godsend for the environment by the conclusions of UN’s own report. The US has decreasing its GHG emissions faster than any other major country, and it did so while not a part of the lemming group-think of the Paris agreement.
