Democrat North Carolina U.S. Senate candidate Cal Cunningham is desperately trying to salvage his campaign after NATIONAL FILE broke the news of Cunningham’s extramarital affair with Arlene Guzman Todd, the wife of a veteran who reportedly became suicidal due to the affair. A former Cunningham campaign adviser alleges that Cunningham also has a second mistress since 2012 who became “devastated” upon learning of the Democrat’s other affair. The Army Reserve has launched an investigation into the conduct of its officer Cunningham, who could face severe military punishment and even a year of “confinement.”
“This campaign is not about my personal life,” Cunningham said in an interview with CBS 17 while avoiding getting into specifics about when his affair with Guzman Todd started and whether or not Cunningham has spoken to Guzman Todd recently. CBS 17 confirms through Cunningham’s campaign that Cunningham will cooperate with the Army Reserve investigation.
However, Cunningham’s “personal life” may have legal implications, as the Army is now investigating him for the adultery Cunningham admitted to when verifying the authenticity of the texts published by National File. As I reported:
Democrat North Carolina U.S. Senate candidate Cal Cunningham is under military investigation after it was confirmed that Cunningham engaged in an extramarital affair with a veteran’s wife named Arlene Guzman Todd. The scandal, first broken by NATIONAL FILE, stands to subject Cunningham to severe military punishment and possibly even a year of “confinement.” (NEW EXPLICIT TEXTS: Cal Cunningham’s Mistress Has Nudes of Cal, Slept With Him in Cal’s Family Home).
“The Army Reserve is investigating the matters involving Lt. Col. James Cunningham. As such, we are unable to provide further details at this time,” stated Army Reserve Command based at Fort Bragg.
Cunningham’s opponent, incumbent Sen. Thom Tillis, says Cunningham owes voters an explanation for his adultery.
