A major airline has rolled out a major woke policy that allows male staffers and pilots to wear skirts.
Virgin Atlantic Flights, owned by billionaire Richard Branson, announced the new policy on Wednesday. Branson’s company claims this new policy helps “champion individuality” and enables Virgin employees to “express how they identify.”
“It’s so important that we enable our people to embrace their individuality and be their true selves at work. It is for that reason that we want to allow our people to wear the uniform that best suits them and how they identify and ensure our customers are addressed by their preferred pronouns,” the Virgin Atlantic chief commercial officer said in a statement.
Under the new rules, male staffers and pilots are allowed to wear the company’s red skirts if desired. Likewise, females can wear company-issued burgundy pants instead of a skirt.
Crew members and even passengers will be allowed to don optional badges which list their pronouns to ensure nobody is addressed by traditional pronouns.
The airline’s check-in system has also been updated to allow individuals with gender-neutral markers on their passports to be registered under codes “U”, “X”, or the gender-neutral “Mx”.
Additionally, Virgin Atlantic employees will be given time off of work if they are undergoing gender transition surgeries. These employees can also elect to use changing rooms and shower facilities that best fit with their newly-found gender identity.
Social media users mocked Virgin Atlantic over their latest policy changes.
Nile Gardiner, a Telegraph contributor, called the policies “Utterly ridiculous. Latest woke madness from the corporate world.”
“Virgin should know that outside of academia, media, & tech companies, very few people even have the slightest clue what this is. There are men and women, it has always been that way. It will always be that way. Pretending otherwise w/ humorous fake pronouns won’t change reality,” Jim Trakas, an Ohio conservative commented on Twitter.
