Newly-released video surveillance footage shows the random and broad daylight stabbing of a staffer for Kentucky U.S. Senator Rand Paul (R) on a sidewalk in Washington, D.C.
Video surveillance footage has been released showing the random and broad daylight stabbing of Rand Paul staffer Phillip Todd, which took place in March. Todd was seriously injured in the attack, requiring several surgeries and even suffering from a collapsed lung and a brain bleed as a result of the stabbing.
Glynn Neal, a 42-year-old black man, was arrested shortly after the attack took place and has been charged with assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.
Previous reports have revealed that Neal was fresh off of a prison at the time of the March attack, having been released just ONE DAY prior, and he reportedly told officers that he was “hearing voices” when he stabbed and seriously injured Phillip Todd.
Neal had actually been released from prison early, having earned “good time credit” during his stint with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, having wound up there after being convicted of running a brutal prostitution ring.
In the video footage that’s been released of the attack, Rand Paul staffer Phillip Todd is seen walking down the street with a friend in Washington, D.C.
Just as Todd and his walking partner exit the security footage frame, commotion begins, and Todd can be seen falling to the ground as someone yell “What the f*ck!?”
As Todd is on the ground and rolling back into the frame, a black man in a hooded coat is seen on top of him and appears to stab him multiple times as Todd’s friend fights the assailant off.
Notably, after Todd broke free of the crazed knife attacker, he body-slammed him, getting in a good blow before fleeing the scene and presumably seeking law enforcement and emergency responders.
Though, as previously mentioned, assailant Glynn Neal was arrested shortly after the attack, a Washington D.C. judge has ruled that he is not competent to stand trial.
