Suspect in Elderly Patient Assault Arrested, Fox News Mocked For Photo Choice

A viral video showing a man beating up an elderly dementia patient, leaving him bloodied, has reportedly led to an arrest.

The victim in the initial video was believed to be a 75-year-old patient at the the Westwood Nursing Center in Detroit.

Authorities said that the man in the video is a 20-year-old patient of the same facility.

The video gained enough traction to the point where US President Donald Trump tweeted about the incident, saying, “Is this even possible to believe? Can this be for real? Where is this nursing home, how is the victim doing?”

Several people took to social media to vent their disgust at the horrific footage, preying upon defenseless and vulnerable elderly patients.

Some argued that the cowardly aggressor beat up the patients because, given their frail mental state of mind, they would not be able to alert staff to the abuse. Others said that the offense should be treated as a hate crime, given the racial component of the beatings.

“Investigating as a hate crime also? If not, we need to let the DOJ in. Also is this facility medicare/Medicaid approved? Where is the Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation? Who is the attending physician and has the state board of medical examiner’s been contacted?” commented one tweeter.

Mark Dice wrote “You’re going to let him back on the streets tonight though, because he might get the coronavirus if you keep him in jail, right? Seems to be the trend across America.”

A third said “There’s no doubt he’s been doing this for a very long time. I’d investigate deaths since he’s been attending this facility. There is no telling how victims he’s abused and killed.”

Fox News also received flak for using a stock photo reversing the races on their article of the filmed assaults.

This is an ongoing investigation that National File will continue to cover as it progresses.
