Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was assaulted by a mob of BLM activists in video recorded as he exited the White House following the closure of the RNC on Thursday night.
Senator Paul was leaving the White House when he was surrounded by a mob of “over 100” BLM activists, who started being aggressive to Paul and his police protection. Footage shows the crowd encircling Paul and his wife, Kelly, along with the officers.
While being largely successful in moving through the crowd, who were chanting BLM slogans, this was interrupted when one police officer who was holding a bike as protection was pushed into Rand Paul and his wife by the mob.

Senator Paul later thanked the officers from DCPD for “literally saving [the lives of him and his wife] from a crazed mob.”
Just got attacked by an angry mob of over 100, one block away from the White House. Thank you to @DCPoliceDept for literally saving our lives from a crazed mob.

In an interview with Fox and Friends on Friday, Paul detailed the incident which he described as “horrific,” and called for an FBI investigation and arrests into those who he believed would have killed them if not for the police.
“I truly believe this with every fiber of my being, had they gotten at us they would have gotten us to the ground, we might not have been killed, might just have been injured by being kicked in the head, or kicked in the stomach until we were senseless,” Paul explained:
You’ve seen the pictures of what they do to you. If the police are not there, if you defund the police, if we become Portland, if America becomes Portland, what’s going to happen is people are going to be pummeled and kicked in the head and left senseless on the curb. That would have happened to us, I promise you, had we not had the D.C. Police to support us, we are thankful we have police, and we’ve got to wake up. We can’t have the whole country, we can’t have Joe Biden rule the country and have no police. I mean, we can’t walk down the street in D.C. safely now. That’s how bad it is.
He added that he believes the mob wasn’t simply a random act of violence, but included people who were “paid to be anarchists,” and bussed in from outside DC. “This is disturbing because really, if you’re inciting a riot that’s a crime, but if you’re paying someone to incite a riot that person needs to go to jail as well.”
This isn’t the first time that Rand Paul has faced attacks from leftists. As Rep Thomas Massie noted, not only was he attacked by his neighbour in 2017, which caused him to need part of his lung removed, but he was also one of the people shot at at the congressional baseball practice where Rep Steve Scalise was seriously injured.
Senator Paul had his ribs broken, was shot at during baseball practice, and now this. I so appreciate that he is still willing to stand for us, often times alone or with just a few in the Senate, even while faced by real and present violence from radical leftists.#StandWithRand https://t.co/4Oso1NDhIg
