The internet is a strange place: unrestrained by social norms or taboo, people with publicly unsavory sexual orientations or kinks can be themselves with little direct consequence.
As a result, there has been a rise in bizarre fetishes or ‘orientations’ gaining–mostly negative–attention.
Let’s start with the classics.
Zoophilia and pedophilia have become popularized by certain subcultures on social media.
Zoophiles on social media have begun to use the lowercase Greek letter zeta or simply inserting ‘ζ’ in their profiles.

Some have even taken to social media to announce their unofficial nuptials with their pets.

Another recent trend is for pedophiles to rename themselves something more euphemistic: ‘Minor Attracted Persons.’
Language, which is the foundation to apprehending truth and meaning, is easily hijacked to shoehorn politico-cultural altering narratives.
Words have lost and gained new meanings fairly quickly.
Take for example the word ‘queer’: decades ago it was used to signify ‘odd,’ then it was considered politically incorrect, and now, it’s an empowering identity.
Pedophiles on social media have renamed themselves into the more long-winded ‘Minor Attracted Person’ (MAP) as a means to abandon the stigma surrounding the label ‘pedophile.’
Various articles in recent years attempted to normalize pedophilia or to alter public perceptions as a despicable criminal paraphilia, rebranding it as something which can’t be helped.
Alternatively, a new narrative was spun to demonstrate a sub-section of pedophiles who didn’t act on their socially-unacceptable impulses, often termed ‘non-contact’ or ‘NOMAP.’
You're a MAP. A Minor attracted person.
There's no 'attempt to slander'. I'm pointing out to people that you're proudly attracted to underage people. https://t.co/joIyjxPOV6

There has been significant pushback from various social media users in light of the new term.
Now, things take a weirder turn.
In a Reddit Post reported on by CultureShiftForLife, there appears to exist a macabre fetish–online, at least–where couples deliberately get pregnant for the sake of it.
ooliava:
I have a female friend who has a really powerful fetish for breeding, she has never used any type of birth control.
She is with a male partner currently who is just like her, into breeding and they have been practicing their fetish for quite a few abortions.
I know this is a heavy subject for some but it got to the point where I’m worried for her health. I personally didn’t study abortions.
Was wondering if this might seriously impact her? She is like a sister to me.
klaus-2018:
I know this fetish. My girlfriend and me have the same fetish. My girlfriend enjoys her pregnancies and she enjoys the abortion. Her preferred date to abort is between 20 and 24 weeks of gestation. I enjoy making her pregnant. And I enjoy the time of her pregnancy. She has no menstrual period and she is sexually very active.
Sexuality without prevention is very emotional and inexpensive.
In the last ten years in our relationship we have done seven abortions and my girlfriend is pregnant again with a little girl.
Abortion fetish is a great method for birth control.
Do not be angry about your girlfriend. Let them enjoy their pregnancies.
aborterrific:
It is good (and rare) to hear of a couple (both man and woman) where both members are into abortion and pregnancy. This is a wonderful and potent example of personal power, where sex meets violence and creation combines with destruction.
Thank you for sharing your exciting romance and would like to know about how this latest abortion was for you. I can imagine that it is a very bonding experience between you and your partner.
Apparently, the thrill is twofold: first, the new dimension of sexuality reached by the change in hormonal balance induced by pregnancy; second–and more disturbingly–is the godlike control over life when legally terminating the fetus.
But it doesn’t end there.
Last week, a few screenshots containing tweets displaying a so-called ‘furry’ requiring a double amputation of their hands after soaking them in dry ice for six hours went viral on social media.
It was claimed by the person in question that they had used an unorthodox arthritis remedy–dry ice–to alleviate discomfort, but they had fallen asleep during the process.
When they regained consciousness, the hands needed to be amputated due to the extent of the damage.
However, it is alleged that dry ice is used by those with amputee fetishes to destroy the limbs so that medical staff are left with no other recourse but to amputate the damaged extremity.

These paraphelias and fetishes have been recently brought to the attention of social media users.
