A Minneapolis mom confronted a group of Black Lives Matter protesters who took to the streets after a man who fired shots into her apartment was shot and killed by police. The crowd did not take kindly to being confronted and became aggressive with the woman.
The mother, Arabella Foss-Yarbrough, called police last Wednesday night after her neighbor Andrew “Tekle” Sundberg allegedly fired shots into her apartment as she was cooking for her two young children. The gunman was eventually shot and killed by two snipers with the Minneapolis Police Department.
A pistol and several magazines were later recovered from the gunman’s apartment.
Despite the facts surrounding the incident, BLM protesters mobilized outside the building in protest of Sundberg’s death.
“This is not a George Floyd situation. George Floyd was unarmed. This is not OK,” Foss-Yarbrough yelled at a group of protesters on Saturday. “He tried to kill me in front of my kids.”
The Minneapolis mom added that her children were likely traumatized by the incident, though the crowd largely did not care. One member of the crowd told her that she should be grateful she wasn’t killed, unlike the armed gunman, who the crowd views as a victim. Another got in Foss-Yarbrough’s face and began cursing at her.
“My kids have to deal with this and probably have a mental illness now because they almost lost their lives,” the Minneapolis mom said. “There’s bullet holes in my kitchen because he sat in the f–king hallway watching me move. He tried to kill me in front of my kids.”

Minneapolis BLM organizer at Trahern Crews mobilized the protesters, who gathered outside the building and demanded that bodycam footage be released. “We’re here to respect life, demand justice, and we’re demanding the release of the bodycam footage,” Crews chanted, according to the Star Tribune.
Photos from the scene show multiple bullet holes lodged in the wall of Foss-Yarbrough’s apartment. “I have black children; I am a woman of color!” she yelled at the protesters. “If I would have lost my life, would you guys do this for me?”

The group included Sundberg’s parents, who said their 20-year-old son — who was adopted by way of Ethiopia — was having a mental health episode.
Sundberg’s parents said they emphasized with Foss Yarbrough, though they maintain that their son was shot without merit. “I wish I could wrap my arms around her and tell her I’m so sorry,” Cindy Sundberg said. “I’m so sorry she had to experience that, I’m so sorry for her pain.”
“Tekle was an imperfect human as we are all imperfect humans and he did not deserve to be picked off like an animal from a rooftop,” she added.
Minneapolis Police have compiled over 50 hours of bodycam footage from the incident, which they plan to release.
