An inmate who beat two convicted pedophiles to death with a walking cane has come forward, admitting that his deed was “doing the world a favor.”
Last month, National File reported on the California inmate who brutally beat two men, who were allegedly watching children on TV, with a cane that one died on the way to the hospital, while the other died some days later.
David Bobb, 48, died the same day; Graham De Luis-Conti, 62, died three days later in hospital.
Jonathan Watson, 41, who was serving a life sentence for a 2009 murder conviction as well as unlawfully discharging a firearm, confessed, in a letter, that he beat both men to death at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison in Corcoran.
On the initial report, National File posted:
Bobb, who was convicted of committing aggravated sexual assault to a child under the age of 14 in San Diego County, was serving a life sentence at the facility since 2005, according to The Mirror.
De Luis-Conti was serving a life sentence for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years old, and was in the facility serving a life sentence since 2001.
Bobb died on the way to the hospital, while the other inmate, De Luis-Conti remained in critical condition before dying three days later.
Watson had already served 10 years of a life sentence for first-degree murder and discharging a firearm, causing great bodily injury or death, it was revealed.
The facility’s statement reads: “On Jan. 16, 2020, correctional officers responded when inmate Jonathan Watson, 41, attacked two inmates in Facility A with a weapon, causing multiple head wounds to both victims.
Medical staff continued life-saving measures while waiting for the ambulances for both injured inmates.
Both were transported to a local medical center. David Bobb, 48, succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital.
SATF’s Investigative Services Unit and the Kings County Coroner’s Office are investigating the deaths as homicides.
The statement adds: “SATF opened in Kings County in 1997 and houses Level II, III and IV inmates. The institution specializes in substance abuse treatment, houses more than 5,400 inmates and employs nearly 2,000 people.”
Watson had advised a counselor to move him to another pod, stressing that he might take matters to his own hands, imparting his view of justice on the convicted pedophiles.
Two hours after speaking with the counselor, Watson beat the men to death.
“I was mulling it all over when along came Molester #1 and he put his TV right on PBS Kids again,” he wrote, according to the newspaper chain. “But this time, someone else said something to the effect of ‘Is this guy really going to watch this right in front of us?’ and I recall saying, ‘I got this.’ And I picked up the cane and went to work on him.”
Watson said he then left the housing pod to find a guard and turn himself in, but on the way, he saw “a known child trafficker, and I figured I’d just do everybody a favor,” Watson wrote. “In for a penny, in for a pound.”
Watson said he then told a guard, who didn’t believe him “until he looked around the corner and saw the mess I’d left in the dorm area,” Watson wrote.
Following the attack, Watson was moved to segregated housing. He later signaled that, because he serves a life sentence, he feels like he has “nothing to lose,” compelling him to carry out these extra-judicial executions.
