An inmate at a California prison murdered two convicted child molesters by beating them to death with a walking cane, according to authorities.
Jonathan Watson, 41, allegedly beat David Bobb, 48, and Graham De Luis-Conti, 62, to death last Thursday at around 2:30 p.m. at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility (SATF) and State Prison in Corcoran, according to the New York Post.
Following the beating, both Bobb and De Luis-Conti who were in critical condition at the time, were transported to hospital, suffering from head wounds.
Bobb, who was convicted of committing aggravated sexual assault to a child under the age of 14 in San Diego County, was serving a life sentence at the facility since 2005, according to The Mirror.
De Luis-Conti was serving a life sentence for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 years old, and was in the facility serving a life sentence since 2001.
Bobb died on the way to the hospital, while the other inmate, De Luis-Conti remained in critical condition before dying three days later.
Watson had already served 10 years of a life sentence for first-degree murder and discharging a firearm, causing great bodily injury or death, it was revealed.
The facility’s statement reads: “On Jan. 16, 2020, correctional officers responded when inmate Jonathan Watson, 41, attacked two inmates in Facility A with a weapon, causing multiple head wounds to both victims.
Medical staff continued life-saving measures while waiting for the ambulances for both injured inmates.
Both were transported to a local medical center. David Bobb, 48, succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital.
SATF’s Investigative Services Unit and the Kings County Coroner’s Office are investigating the deaths as homicides.
The statement adds: “SATF opened in Kings County in 1997 and houses Level II, III and IV inmates. The institution specializes in substance abuse treatment, houses more than 5,400 inmates and employs nearly 2,000 people.”
The investigation into the prison murder is ongoing.
