A Republican U.S. Senator proposed legislation that will enable states to enforce federal immigration laws.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) introduced the “Empowering States to Deport Illegal Immigrants Act” on Tuesday, which if passed, will allow state governments to deport illegal immigrants out of the country, regardless of the Biden administration’s views.
Hawley’s proposed bill would also let state prosecutors come after violators of federal immigration laws and give state governments the ability to secure their own state’s physical border.
Over recent months, the United State’s illegal immigration crisis has exploded. Just over the course of this fiscal year, 2.1 million illegal immigrants have been encountered by the Border Patrol. This number is a record high.
Sen. Hawley went on Fox News to discuss his proposed legislation.
“If Joe Biden isn’t going to enforce immigration laws why don’t we let the states enforce immigration laws?” Hawley told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham.
“The State of Texas would love to, the states of Florida, Arizona, they’d love to enforce immigration laws. Let’s them do it, let’s let them secure the border, let’s let them deport illegal immigrants according to our laws,” Hawley added.
“Let’s take the gloves off here, let’s enforce the law, let’s restore order to the border,” the Missouri Senator concluded.
This move would put an end to political schemes run by the governors of Texas, Arizona, and Florida governors as they continue to ship illegal immigrants deeper into the country.
Hawley’s legislation would hold Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX), Gov. Doug Ducey (R-AZ), and Gov. Ron Desantis (R-FL) accountable for their state’s pressing illegal immigration issue, forcing them to take action to fix the Southern Border crisis.
As National File previously reported:
Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate questioned why Gov. Desantis is supportive of moving immigrants “further inland.” Lake, speaking with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, vowed to declare a “border invasion” on day one, should she be elected in November.
“My plan is the most bold, aggressive plan on the border. We’re going to secure the border. We’re going to call it what it is, issue a declaration of invasion on day one, get troops on the border in the form of our National Guard,” the Arizona America first candidate began.
“We’re going to stop people from coming over and we’re going to stop the cartels from having control of our border. I don’t like it as a mother and I know no Arizonan likes it that we are the pipeline for the most dangerous, deadly drug this country has ever seen – called fentanyl,” Lake added.
