Hillary R. Clinton (D-NY), the former First Lady, former Senator, and former Secretary of State, is assisting the media to hype her potential entrance into the 2020 Presidential election with some recent high profile interviews, making teasing statements about her intentions to “carefully consider” running for President again after her failed effort in 2016.
Now is a relevant time to ponder what a 2020 Clinton run for Presidency would look like by looking back and remembering Clinton’s dreams for higher office as reported by the media in 2016.
Breitbart New’s Julia Hahn wrote in 2016 that Clinton had big dreams of open borders.
“My dream is a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders, some time in the future with energy that is as green and sustainable as we can get it, powering growth and opportunity for every person in the hemisphere.” [05162013 Remarks to Banco Itau.doc, p. 28],” the Clinton speech said.
That information was discovered in Clinton’s private paid speeches in leaked emails of Clinton’s campaign chair, John Podesta, which were made public by WikiLeaks, Hahn explained.
“In closed-door remarks delivered to a foreign bank, Hillary Clinton declared that her ‘dream is a hemispheric common market, with open trade and open borders,” Hahn wrote.
The Washington Times reported the same findings in 2016, “Hillary Clinton in 2013 said she dreams of a ‘common market with open trade and open borders,’ saying that economic opportunity in the U.S. would grow as a result,” they reported.
The Chicago Tribune reported in 2016, that Clinton wanted open borders and,”Clinton’s dream also includes a Western Hemispheric common market, like the European common market that is dissolving in chaos, fear and debt.
The 2016 Clinton campaign insisted she was not open borders. But she did support Amnesty.
Apparently eyeing a way to attract supporters of her opponent, President Donald J. Trump who gained popularity in 2016 on building a wall on America’s southern border, Hillary hopes to rebrand herself as a leftwing “populist” who doesn’t actually want open borders any longer and prefers some immigration reform.
Perhaps the open border, open markets is for secret speeches with world bankers, we may possibly find out soon, as Clinton gets closer to a decision to jump in.
CBS News reported recently, “The 2016 Democratic presidential candidate [Clinton] sought to clarify comments she made about how Europe could thwart rightwing populism by limiting migration.”
In November 2019 Clinton wrote: “In a recent interview, I talked about how Europe must reject right-wing nationalism and authoritarianism, including by addressing migration with courage and compassion.”
“On both sides of the Atlantic, we need reform. Not open borders, but immigration laws enforced with fairness and respect for human rights. We can’t let fear or bias force us to give up the values that have made our democracies both great and good,” Clinton wrote.

In a Guardian interview this month, Clinton added some more confusion to what her 2020 campaign platform would really be all about, by saying, “There are solutions to migration that do not require clamping down on the press, on your political opponents and trying to suborn the judiciary, or seeking financial and political help from Russia to support your political parties and movements.”
Whatever she decides is her stand on immigration and borders could be a surprise to everyone, including Clinton herself.
