According to a report in a piece published by The Mirror, a leaked dossier from the intelligence community confirms China suppressed or destroyed evidence at the crucial phase of the Covid-19 outbreak, thus hampering efforts to create a timely vaccine for the coronavirus that has claimed tens of thousands of lives around the world.
Many pundits, politicians, publications, think tanks, and organizations pointed the finger at China for their role in a disinformation campaign at the onset of the outbreak which hurt efforts to minimize the spread of infection on a global level.
The report, created by the Five Eyes security alliance, has accused China for their disinformation campaign. Medical professionals were silenced, media reports suppressed, and human-to-human contact was downplayed – something that the WHO also parroted.
From The Mirror:
The report claimed “millions” of people left the city before it went into lockdown, spreading the killer disease around the world.
“Throughout February, Beijing presses the US, Italy, India, Australia, Southeast Asian neighbors and others not to protect themselves via travel restrictions, even as the PRC imposes severe restrictions at home,” the dossier reportedly states.
The dossier claimed there was a “deadly denial of human-to-human transmission”, which has cost tens of thousands of lives, while doctors and scientists who spoke out were “silenced”.
It is also alleged that China “bleached” wildlife market stalls and refused to provide live samples that could help find a cure.
Much of the relevant information was prevented from seeing the light of day, leading to various countries and organizations squaring up to China demanding for reparations or punitive action.
The leaked report was sent to the Australian Telegraph, sounding the alarm about research taking place at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. There, work into deadly, highly contagious pathogens was conducted, echoing concerns about the possibility of the coronavirus escaping a lab following human error.
The theory toying with the idea that the COVID-19 was man-made is also subject of abundant controversy. The popular economics news website Zerohedge was suspended from Twitter, after amassing a following of 650,000 Twitter users, in part, for running a narrative entertaining the idea that the coronavirus was born in a lab.
Furthermore, the intelligence community believes that evidence of the coronavirus in labs was destroyed; failure to cooperate with international scientists was also reported in China’s refusal to provide live samples to scientists.
The Australian government reportedly funded a team of Chinese scientists for work on genetically modifying coronaviruses. Last week, China threatened Australia with “economic consequences” if they were to launch an independent investigation into the origins of the global outbreak.
Despite the accusations leveled against China, the WHO maintains that the coronavirus responsible for the global pandemic is naturally occurring.
But the WHO’s reputation has been called into question after they parroted China’s narratives at the beginning of the global crisis.
As a result, President Donald Trump suspended US funding to the WHO, a devastating blow considering the United States accounts for 15% of their total budget. China recently increased donations to the WHO, despite much of the international community looking askance at the organization.
Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro accused the WHO of encouraging young children to become gay and to masturbate in a now-deleted Facebook post.
