In a statement that would be considered comical if not for the seriousness of the situation, the leader of a BLM-affiliated anti-Trump groups was captured on video inside the US Capitol Building engaging in the chaos and in proximity to where Ashli Babbitt was shot dead by US Capitol police.
John Sullivan, the founder of Utah-based Insurgence USA – a contributing affiliate of the Black Live Matter movement, contends that he traveled to Washington DC on January 6, 2021, to “document” the goings on, saying, “I wanted to be able to tell a part of history.”
Sullivan, who is extremely vocal about his opposition to President Trump, was recorded last August ranting to a crowd as he pointed to the White House, “We…about to burn this s— down…We gotta rip Trump right out of that office right there,” adding, “We ain’t about…waiting until the next election. It’s time for revolution.”

“There’s this narrative going around right now that Antifa was the people there causing the riots, causing the tension, they were the only people breaking into the Capitol, and I wanted to be able to tell a part of history and show that that was anything but the case,” Sullivan told reporters Thursday.
When pressed if he was certain about his statement that there were no Antifa or Black Lives Matter operatives in the crowd that perpetrated violence and breached the US Capitol Building last Wednesday, Sullivan bought himself some plausible deniability, saying he couldn’t know for sure without speaking to everyone individually.
“It’s just recording, solely, and not being active in it,” Sullivan insisted.
The Utah man told 2 News he was there to document the protests. He is seen in the video moments after a woman was shot and killed trying to break through a window in the U.S. Capitol. You can hear from him tonight at 10. pic.twitter.com/WRwtupKZ3y

Earlier this summer Sullivan was arrested in connection with violent protests in Utah. When pressed he admitted to illegally accessing the secure Capitol Building by climbing through a window.
A post on his Insurgence USA group’s website pushed an event called “Kick These Fascists Out of DC.” Not coincidently, his promoted protest event was scheduled for the National Mall on January 6, 2021 around the same time as a pro-Trump.
