The Department of Justice is continuing to be weaponized against Conservatives.
In the budget request for the upcoming 2023 fiscal year, Biden’s DOJ requested an additional $34 million in funding to support the January 6th Committee’s employees and their so-called investigation.
The DOJ claimed the J6 investigation was “unprecedented in scale and is expected to be among the most complex investigations prosecuted by the Department of Justice.”
Their request for more funding is “critically needed” and if the funding is not granted it would “have a detrimental impact on the United States Attorneys’ ability to backfill vacancies and prosecute important cases in other jurisdictions.”
If approved, the J6 Committee will be able to sic 130 employees and 80 federal prosecutors onto Trump-supporting J6 participants.
One DOJ official told NBC News in July that the DOJ lacked the “manpower” to charge and arrest as many Trump J6 supporters as they’d like.
US Attorney General Merrick Garland said it would be “nice” if Congress grants more resources for the committee to continue its “extraordinary,” “complex,” and “unprecedented” investigation.

This massive $34 million request comes despite American voters being fairly uninterested in the J6 committee’s findings and arrests.
A Harvard/Harris poll released earlier this month suggests only 7% of Americans view the J6 investigation as an important issue in the country. Survey participants prioritized issues like inflation, the economy, and immigration as leading issues in the country.
Despite this, Democrats in Congress have continued to support the investigation and call for more arrests. “They [the DOJ] have to let us know. As an appropriator — they [the DOJ] have to let us know if there are insufficient funds. But I think those who disgraced our country who perpetrated violence, desecrated these buildings — they should pay the price for that,” Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH) said of the J6 investigation’s pleas for more money.
