House speaker Nancy Pelosi has formally invited President Donald Trump to deliver the State of the Union address on February 4, despite Pelosi’s effort to impeach Trump from office.
Pelosi led House Democrats — except for Tulsi Gabbard — in voting to impeach Trump for allegedly pressuring Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden’s corruption, but Pelosi has yet to deliver the articles of impeachment to the Senate.
Thus, Trump is not impeached yet, and he might not be. Senate Republicans have already made it abundantly clear that Trump will not be removed from office with a Senate trial.
Pelosi infamously nearly dis-invited Trump from the State of the Union last time around during a government shutdown over border Wall funding, prompting President Trump to personally cancel a taxpayer-funded flight for Pelosi’s planned foreign trip.
Trump eventually declared a National Emergency to obtain Wall funding, which the Supreme Court affirmed.
Pelosi sent her State of the Union invitation to Trump in letter form:
