Stefan Bieret, an assistant to the Sergeant at Arms for the House of Representatives, has been arrested and charged with the possession of child pornography.
Bieret, 41, was arrested at his home in Burke, Virginia last Wednesday following an investigation by Fairfax County police. Bieret was charged with 10 felony counts for possession of child pornography.
The investigation was sparked off when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children were alerted to a possible child exploitation image that was uploaded to a Dropbox account owned by a Fairfax County individual. After county detectives took over, a search warrant on the account revealed even more sick images. Police say further warrants led to the identification of Bieret as the owner of the files.

After his arrest for child pornography, it emerged that Bieret has worked as an assistant program manager for the US House Sergeant at Arms, the chief law enforcement and protocol officer for the House of Representatives, since 2004, according to Legistorm, a database that tracks the employment records of individuals in Congress.
Bieret also spent some time working directly for the US Capitol Police in the Security Services Bureau front office as a civilian from April 2019 until September last year, but since returned to working for the Sergeant at Arms. During the arrest of Bieret, several electronic devices were also seized from his house, with Fairfax County detectives saying that they will “continue to examine the digital evidence that was recovered from the scene.” Police said they will consult with the Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney for any additional charges that may result from searching these devices.
Bieret is currently being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, with his lawyer not returning any requests for comment from the media when asked. He is expected to return to court next month, according to the Washington Post.
