Stephen Wolfe, the author of the best-selling book “The Case for Christian Nationalism”, stirred up online controversy with a tweet claiming white Christians are the “lone bulwark” keeping America from descending into a living hell.
As immortality in the United States flourishes and is celebrated by every single mainstream institution, Wolfe claims if it were not for a Christian voting block America would be doomed. Apparently, Wolfe’s point that a vast majority of American Christians also happen to be white, triggered woke white evangelicals who are afraid of being called “racist”. The virtue signaling on Twitter was palpable and triggering, as a simple fact about demographics was completely lost on some who seemed desperate to prove they are not prejudiced against non-whites.
“lone bulwark” means that the absence of the white evangelical bloc would torpedo us into moral insanity. There is no other group (that I’m aware of) whose absence would cause this.” & “”white evangelicalism” is relentlessly attacked by the left and center-right, but a guy says something positive about them and he’s called “racist”. Weird. It’s as if the established rhetorical norms require you to hate this group.”
One triggered Twitter user denounced the Tweet as “racist”.
“Only the white ones? Really? Did you even take 2 seconds to think about saying that or are you actually a racist?”
Conservative talk show host Allie Beth Stuckey
chimed in and defended Wolfe’s tweet as a demographic fact.
“This tweet is floating around Christian twitter & people I highly respect are pushing back against it. I’ve never read anything by Wolfe, but this tweet by itself seems to me to obviously be talking about the fact that, statistically, white eva as a bloc is the most conservative”
Another Twitter user
wrote those who were triggered by Wolfe’s tweet were engaged in virtue signaling.
“This tweet is in no way excluding the great work of non-white evangelicals, nor is it pitting white evangelicals against anyone else for that matter. Yet Christians of every color and from every tribe are rushing to condemn it, as their latest virtue signal and contribution to the very moral insanity that Wolfe is referring to.
“I’ve observed white people my whole life as I’ve always lived among them. White people have an almost insatiable need, almost a reflex, to prove how much they arent racist and/or oppose racism.”
