Ron DeSantis went on Hannity less than 12 hours after Fox announced that Fox News and Tucker Carlson would be parting ways. DeSantis, who spoke to Hannity from Tokyo, Japan, teased a presidential run and did not speak of Tucker’s departure. In contrast, Donald Trump spent Tuesday night defending Tucker Carlson in speeches, interviews, and Truth Social posts.
Ron DeSantis told Hannity he would announce his presidential intentions after the Florida Legislative session ends in May. Hannity then asked DeSantis if he was leading one way or another. DeSantis answered with, “Stay tuned.” As DeSantis was answering Hannity’s questions, the sun was in the Governor’s eyes, forcing him to squint, which made the interview look even more awkward.

During a Tuesday night speech, Donald Trump strongly hinted he knew what happened between Tucker and Fox, saying, “Something very bad happened. I know what happened, and he was leading the pack in ratings. This ideology or whatever it is more important than ratings and it’s not a good thing.”

In a Tuesday Truth Social post, Trump wrote, “The fact that Tucker Carlson will no longer be on FoxNews is a big blow to Cable News, and to America. Tucker was insightful, interesting, and ratings gold. He will be greatly missed!”
And
“Oh no, not Dan Bongino also? Not only Tucker, but Dan. What is going on at FoxNews?”
In April 2023, Fox News Board Member Paul Ryan spoke of Fox having “proper conservative voices despite Tucker Carlson.” Paul Ryan has repeatedly praised Ron DeSantis and threatened to skip the 2024 GOP Convention if Donald Trump is the nominee.
