Taylor Swift is the focus of a political documentary about her life, her music career and her activism for high profile Democrats, exposing her passion for pro-abortion causes and casting doubt on her Christian faith with bold statements about her lack of concern for the value of life, and perhaps for her own music career preferring political activism.
The movie, Miss Americana, shows Swift’s coming of age as a political spokeswoman after years in entertainment against the better advice of her publicist and parents, as Swift decided to use her massive platform to enter the world of politics.
In the movie, Swift defends her decision to be political, “This was a situation where, from a humanity perspective and from what my moral compass was telling me I needed to do, I knew I was right, and I really didn’t care about repercussions,” Swift said.
Swift provides a huge platform for political commentary to an audience of young men and women who are easy prey for the sophisticated political messaging wrapped in powerful A-list Hollywood music glamour.
Swift has a twitter following of over 85 million people and recently she endorsed Democrat Phil Bredesen in the Tennessee Senate race against Republican Marsha Blackburn, who is a leading pro-life advocate.
Swift has built her following among evangelicals for years, claiming she is a Christian, however, she does not support the Bible’s stand on the value of human life. Swift said that she entered politics because of Marsha Blackburn’s pro-life stand, which Swift said was “disgusting”.
Swift now stands to influence a generation to adopt her positive feelings about abortion, as she turns a successful entertainment career into a political weapon.
“It’s really basic human rights, and it’s right and wrong at this point, and I can’t see another commercial and see Marsha Blackburn disguising these policies behind the words ‘Tennessee Christian values,’” she said in the Netflix special. “Those aren’t Tennessee Christian values. I live in Tennessee. I’m a Christian. That’s not what we stand for.”
Netflix designated the movie is a political documentary.
“In this revealing documentary, Taylor Swift embraces her role as a songwriter and performer — and as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice,” Netflix posted.
In an ironic twist of fate, the movie Miss Americana is about a princess of pop music and her very privileged life. The life she was fortunate enough to have because her mother decided to allow her to be born alive.
