Two migrant men are currently in custody after Swedish authorities say they inflicted horrendous torture on two teenage boys who were allegedly raped and buried alive during the ordeal.
On Sunday morning, police were called to the Northern Solna church graveyard after passersby found two undressed boys suffering from beatings that had been carried out throughout the night, in an assault that lasted over ten hours.
According to the Daily Mail, the pair of migrants had offered to sell the underage teens drugs, and when they refused, took them to a cemetery to carry out the savage attack.
The two victims–both minors in their teens–were conscious and talkative when emergency medical technicians administered treatment after being exposed to “torture-like and abusive violence,” according to Fria Tider. Their current state is unknown.
After police cordoned off the area, police quickly found and arrested the two suspects–one of whom was wearing a stolen item belonging to one of the victims. The two young migrant men were detained on probable cause on suspicion of kidnapping, aggravated assault, rape and aggravated robbery.
The first suspect–a 21-year-old Iranian man who came to Sweden in 2009–was already known to police on a multitude of prior charges and was sentenced to one-and-a-half years in prison for an arson attack where he had set a sports car on fire. The unnamed man of Iranian origin had also racked up arrests for theft, illegal driving, drunk driving and minor drug offenses. It was unclear as to why he was not in prison at the time of the arrest–given his arson conviction.
The second suspect was the 18-year-old son of Tunisian immigrants who was wanted in connection with an attempted burglary after DNA evidence put the young man at the scene of the crime.
Despite both suspects being known to authorities, they have denied the charges against them.
