Liberal men from Russia are taking advantage of the nation’s laws to legally change their genders from male to female and dodge the draft, as the Russian government continues mobilizing the male population to fight in the ongoing war against Ukraine.
Russian lawmakers say that in recent months, roughly 2,700 men have legally changed their gender over to female to dodge the nation’s military draft. Currently, Russia has what could be described as surprisingly relaxed gender change laws, but the State Duma, Russia’s legislative body, is preparing to crack down.
No surgical “gender reassignment” procedure is currently required for the legal change, something that Russian lawmakers say will soon change.
Under the current statute, Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin explains that “decisions [to change genders] can be made in private clinics. A man gets up in the morning and decides for himself that he is no longer a man, but a woman.“
“He goes to a paid clinic – the service costs from 30 thousand to 60 thousand rubles – receives a certificate and with this certificate goes further to the registry office, to the passport office to change his last name, first name, and patronymic.”
In addition to cracking down on draft dodgers, Russian Minister of Justice Konstantin Chuychenk says that changing the gender laws will “take a step towards enshrining family values in the Russian law”.
The matter of changing the gender laws is being treated with urgency by Russian lawmakers, who say that the process will be sped up and gender change reforms could be signed into law as early as May 15th, making it far more difficult for draft dodgers who were unable to flee the country to skirt service in the Ukrainian conflict.
Russia’s pending action against “transgender” draft dodgers stands in stark contrast to recent revelations from the United States, where it was learned that the US Navy was employing a “non-binary” drag queen sailor as an online recruiting influencer.
As National File reported:
US Navy and Pentagon brass have admitted to using a “non-binary” drag queen as a social media recruiting ambassador, in an effort to lure in new recruits amidst a historically bad enlistment downturn. As part of the recruiting campaign, the drag queen told prospective recruits in an Instagram video that the US Navy had facilitated his drag performances for fellow sailors while on deployment.
