High profile Republicans, including Meghan McCain, have publicly celebrated the guilty verdict given to former Trump advisor Roger Stone this afternoon.
Stone was convicted on 7 counts of obstruction, making false statements, and witness tampering, and faces up to 10 years in prison.
His sentencing is scheduled for February, and he has been instructed to continue obeying a gag order that prevents Stone from appearing on media to discuss his case or from using social media for any purpose.
Major Democrats were joined by at least two prominent Republicans, including the daughter of the late senator and two time presidential candidate John McCain, in celebrating the guilty verdict.
“Rot in hell, Roger Stone,” wrote Meghan McCain, who appears daily on “The View” on Twitter.

Rick Wilson, a long-time Never Trump fanatic who has railed against President Donald Trump since the 2015 primary campaign, claims that President Trump’s tweets about Stone will make it impossible for Stone to be pardoned.
“Thanks for confirming Roger Stone lied!” Wrote Wilson, “It makes it even more shifty if you pardon him!”

John Podesta, the former chairman for Hillary Clinton’s failed presidential campaign, posted a link to the New York Times article about Stone’s guilty verdict and said he will “sit back, relax, and enjoy” a “long transatlantic flight” on Twitter.

Wolf Blitzer, a CNN host who claimed in a recent TV interview not to be biased toward Democrats or Republicans, posted a screen shot of a CNN graphic showing Stone next to Michael Cohen, Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, Michael Flynn and George Papadopolos and seemed to brag, “And now Roger Stone added to the list.”

For his part, President Trump took to Twitter to complain about the guilty verdict, and the seeming double standard set for Republicans who helped the president in his 2016 election and Democrats who have been credibly accused of widespread corruption.
“So now they convict Roger Stone of lying and want to jail him for many years to come,” wrote President Trump. “Well, what about Crooked Hillary, Comey, Strzok, Page, McCabe, Brennan, Clapper, Shifty Schiff, Ohr & Nellie, Steele & all of the others, including even Mueller himself?”
“A double standard like never seen before in the history of our Country,” wrote the president.
….A double standard like never seen before in the history of our Country?

It is unknown if the president plans to pardon Stone.
