GOP Senate candidate Kathy Barnette received a very positive reception from America First voters after her debate performance on Wednesday night. Before the debate, a recent poll from Monmouth University had Barnette trailing the Trump-endorsed Dr. Oz by just four percentage points.
Kathy Barnette has received a number of critical endorsements throughout the campaign, including one from leading gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano. Barnette, an army veteran and author, was within the margin of error in Monmouth’s latest poll, meaning she could very well be in a three-way tie for first.
She will be hoping to beat out Dr. Mehmet Oz, who received Trump’s endorsement last month, and former Bush official/hedge fund manager David McCormick. Both McCormick and Oz have received a great deal of criticism for numerous liberal or anti-Trump positions they have held over the years. Because of this, Kathy Barnette has been making the argument that she is the true conservative candidate in the race.
During Wednesday’s debate, when the candidates were trying to prove their pro-life campaign stances, Barnette revealed that she was conceived by rape. “I am the byproduct of a rape,” Barnette declared. “My mother was 11 years old when I was conceived. My father was 21. I was not just a lump of cells. As you can see, I’m still not just a lump of cells. My life has value.”
She went on to say “that is one of the reasons why I was so very disturbed when I saw Mehmet Oz running for this particular race, when I’ve seen him on numerous occasions, and specifically at the Breakfast Club, saying that my life was nothing more than an acorn with electrical current.”
Kathy Barnette also pointed to her ability to reach out to a wide range of ethnic groups. Barnette argued that the GOP can reach black voters so long as they don’t place “people who suck at it” in charge.
“I’m Black and I’ve been Black all my life. Fact check it,” Barnette said, drawing laughs.

Black people are not special unicorns. We want what all Americans want.

Kathy Barnette has repeatedly attacked the past stances of both Dr. Oz and David McCormick. Oz has endorsed a number of leftist social policies in the past, including abortion and transgenderism. He claims to have had a change of heart on those views, though his opponents have attempted to paint the television personality as dishonest.
David McCormick has also taken flak for similar reasons. While serving as manager of Bridgewater Capital, McCormick’s firm installed a “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion” policy that included fully paid for gender reassignment surgeries for employees. He also referred to the January 6 Capitol protests as a “dark day” in American history and blamed President Trump for “inciting violence.”
“David McCormick and Mehmet Oz are both globalists in bed with the World Economic Forum,” wrote Kathy Barnette in a tweet Wednesday.
