President Trump will defeat Democrats on the Impeachment debate on Process, Reince Priebus told Steve Bannon during his War Room radio broadcast Friday morning.
Priebus has been quiet of late, having kept a low profile since his unceremonious firing after serving only six months in the Trump White House.
Both Priebus and Vice President Mike Pence, who were vaunted as valuable additions to the Trump administration after the win, were supposed to add much needed relationships with Congress which Trump lacked.
Priebus’s failure to deliver on the repeal of Obamacare led to his quick and unceremonious ouster, according to the New York Times, which described those days as “stormy.”
Priebus and Pence also failed to deliver on the President’s signature issue of border security. Despite majorities in both the House and Senate, Congress never delivered border wall funding package to the President’s desk.
Now, however, with the President’s future teetering on the precipice of a potential removal vote in a Senate packed with at least a dozen hostile Republicans — led notably by Mitt Romney — Priebus has decided it’s time to defend the President from impeachment.
Priebus argued on Friday that Republicans need to be out in front of cameras talking about the problems with the Democrats’ strategy and breaking down these issues for the public.
Reince Priebus, whose losing streak President Trump joked about on election night during Donald Trump’s historic victory against formidable media and mainstream Republican opposition, now seems to be solidly on the Trump Train, despite rumors of his misgivings about Trump circulating widely in the months leading up to the 2016 election.
Priebus, the former White House Chief of Staff, who was also former Chairman of the Republican Committee and lawyer, joined the War Room Impeachment podcast on Friday and talked about the strategy the White House should engage in to defend President Donald J. Trump against Impeachment.
“We have to argue this case on the merits. We need a Motion to Dismiss, from the White House lawyers, because there is no crime, there is no misdemeanor. Even if everything they said was true, there is no crime. The Democrat’s process is flawed,” Priebus said.
“We win on the merits because even if President Trump did what he was accused of, ultimately the funds were released, without the prerequisite for the funds to be released. There is no Quid Pro Quo ” Priebus said.
“It then comes down to Mens Rea, or the intent of the President. It is ridiculous to argue the case on the state of mind of the President,” Priebus said.
“There is enough in the President’s transcript that makes intent confusing. It is insane to impeach the president over an intent case,” he said
The War Room Impeachment Podcast is a new daily project for Stephen K. Bannon, Chairman of Citizens of the American Republic, Raheem Kassam former director of Brexit War Room, Jason Miller, former Senior Communications Advisor of the 2016 Trump campaign.
“We will be here until one day after Trump is acquitted,” Bannon said.
