Comedian Bill Burr ripped complaints about “equal pay” from the WNBA and other women’s sports leagues in a recent stand-up bit, blaming feminists and other women for failing to support women’s sports themselves. Instead of watching female athletes strive towards a common goal as part of a team, Burr says, women would rather watch other women tear each other down on reality television.
After it was realized that the decades-long failure of women’s sports to attract fans resulted in far lower revenue than the countless billions earned by popular professional men’s leagues, equal pay in women’s sports became a rallying point for left-wing activists, with their demands bleeding over into ESPN and sports media despite their rejection of basic economics. In a recent stand-up comedy bit, legendary comedian Bill Burr, who is known for refusing to bend to political correctness, mocked that movement and its supporters in a hilarious fashion, laying blame for the failure of women’s sports leagues to generate revenue and pay their players millions of dollars on the very demographic he says should be supporting them – other women.
When far-left women’s soccer player Megan Rapinoe came on air to complain about her salary and question why female athletes make less than men, ESPN anchors were forced to sit looking “dumbfounded,” said Burr, before changing gears to basketball, a frequent target sport of equal pay activists, and laying into the WNBA.

The Women’s National Basketball Association has long struggled with low attendance and a lack of fans. This year, the league’s most spectated team, the Seattle Storm, is bringing in an average of just 10,582 fans per game, while the Indiana Fever is bringing in just 1,726 fans on average, a number less than many boys’ high school teams.
“Look at the WNBA! Nobody in the WNBA got COVID! Nobody! They have been playing in front of 3 to 400 people a night for a quarter of a century,” Burr said.
“Where are the feminists!?” he asked.
“Women failed the WNBA,” he went on. “Ladies, name your top 5 WNBA players of all time, come on, let’s hear it. Name 5 WNBA teams. Name the WNBA team in your fucking city – you can’t do it! You don’t give a fuck about them. They play night in and night out in front of nobody. It’s a fuckin tragedy,” Burr went on to say, remarking that it is women, not men, who are to blame for the lack of women’s sports fans.
“And then meanwhile, you look at the Kardashians, they’re making billions. You look at those Real Housewife shows, they’re making money hand over fist, because that’s what women are watching. And the money listens!”
“You’d rather watch that shit. Real Housewives. A bunch of women just tearing each other down.”
