Ghislaine Maxwell, a long time associate and confidant of disgraced banker Jeffrey Epstein, has been arrested by the FBI in New Hampshire.
Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former girlfriend and alleged madam, was arrested on Thursday morning by FBI agents in New Hampshire. Epstein apparently committed suicide in August, following his arrest and subsequent investigation into alleged sex crimes, involving high profile figures and underage girls.
Maxwell had not been seen since Epstein was arrested in June or made any public comment about the investigation, with the internet rife with speculations about where she was hiding, and why. Girls including Virginia Giuffre Roberts, who was pictured with Prince Andrew at the age of 17, claim Maxwell pimped her and others out.
Many high profile names were alleged to have visited Epstein’s private island or flew on his private jet, including Alan Dershowitz, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, and others.
Maxwell was charged with counts relating to Epstein’s case, and will appear before a federal court on Thursday.
UPDATE:
Ghislaine Maxwell’s charges have been revealed in her indictment. Maxwell has been charged on six counts, which include: conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts; conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity; transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity; and perjury.
“[Ghislaine] Maxwell assisted, facilitated and contributed to Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of minor girls by, among other things, helping Epstein to recruit, groom, and ultimately abuse victims,” the indictment alleges, noting that “the victims were as young as 14.”
