As the 2020 General Election continues to be counted and litigated one election result is clear, Democrats lost big in the US House of Representatives. And amidst criticism from House Democrat leadership that extremism cost them seats in the chamber, one member of “The Squad” is threatening to quit rather than cooperate.
US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), rejected the idea that the extreme Marxist positions that Progressives pushed in the election were the central cause of Democrats losing seats in the House. She also threatened to “quit politics.”
“Externally, there’s been a ton of support, but internally, it’s been extremely hostile to anything that even smells progressive,” she complained to The New York Times. When asked about her future the Congresswoman said, “I genuinely don’t know. I don’t even know if I want to be in politics.”
Immediately after it became clear that Democrats were going to lose seats in the House, mainstream Democrats took to a conference call blasting the Progressive wing of the party.
“No one should say ‘defund the police’ ever again,” Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA), said passionately. “Nobody should be talking about Socialism.”
Spanberger continued on to address the elephant in the room, saying if Democrats don’t change their messaging ahead of the 2020 midterm elections, “We will get f—king torn apart.”
Democratic lawmakers expressed frustration with party leaders over the loss of several congressional seats, saying House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and others oversold their prospects. The Democrats are angry & bitter reps of their constituents. https://t.co/98uw19My3V via @WSJ

Separately, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV), told reporters, “We’re not for the New Green Deal, we’re not for Medicare for All. We can’t even pay for Medicare for some.”
He addressed the issue of the AOC Marxist influence saying, “Basically labeling every Democrat as a Socialist or supporting Socialism, that’s not who we are. It’s not who I am is not how we were raised. And it hurt a lot of good Democrats in rural America, Montana, for one. Other places around the country.”
Ocasio-Cortez appeared to just steamroll on, ignoring the concerns of those in her caucus.
Last Friday, November 6, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future? I foresee decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future.”

Social media lit up equating her to 20th Century dictators like Stalin in the Soviet Union, Mao in Communist China, Pol Pot in Cambodia, and Hitler for suggestion that a list be made to employ in political retaliation.
