Former President Donald Trump announced his endorsement of Dan Cox in the Maryland gubernatorial race.
Trump said Cox “will bring dignity back to a State that is much more ‘red’ than anyone would ever know or believe.”
The former President bashed Cox’s opponent, Kelly Schulz, calling her a “low-energy RINO” who would continue the current Governor of Maryland, Larry Hogan’s “terrible RINO reign.”
“Dan will fight for our schools, our jobs, and our entire way of life. More importantly, Dan will end Larry Hogan’s terrible RINO reign by defeating his “Never Trump” successor, another low-energy RINO, Kelly Schulz.”

Hogan has been ridiculed within the GOP for his anti-Republican leadership and consistent counter-signaling of Donald Trump and his supporters.
The Maryland Governor was one of the few Republican governors that aggressively pushed lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite former President Trump’s calls for the end of lockdowns.
Speaking with CNN in April 2020, Hogan pushed back on protestors who were calling for an end to government-mandated lockdowns, saying it was not “helpful to encourage demonstrations and encourage people” to rally against lockdowns.
Fast forward to August of 2021, Hogan’s support of lockdowns continued. The Maryland governor called for extended lockdowns due to “conspiracy theories” over the COVID-19 vaccine. Hogan forced particular Maryland employees to be vaccinated or undergo extensive COVID-19 tests.

Hogan has backed Kelly Schulz, his former secretary of commerce, in the gubernatorial race, whom Trump believes is “another low-energy RINO.”
Hogan told Maryland residents he believes Schulz “can continue the legacy” he created during his role as Governor since 2015.
Schulz has adopted Hogan’s view of leadership. Schulz was a pro-mask and lockdown advocate, encouraging Americans to “wear the damn mask” and “follow the rules.”
The gubernatorial candidate has refused to offer any public support for Trump, dodging direct questions about him.
Schulz has also come under fire from Republicans after saying she would do nothing to pass pro-life legislation in Maryland, despite the recent SCOTUS ruling which gives states the ability to ban abortion.
“Nothing will change with respect to current Maryland law on the issue,” Schulz said in a statement following the SCOTUS decision.
The Trump-endorsed candidate, Dan Cox, is a near polar opposite of Schulz.
Cox is passionatley anti-lockdown, saying, “on day one of my administration as your next Governor, I will end the vaccine and health mandates and restore freedom by restoring the Constitution’s protections to all the people of Maryland.”
He has also been a vocal opponent to critical race theory in Maryland schools. His running mate, Gordana Schifanelli, ripped into Queen Anne’s County Public Schools superintendent Andrea M. Kane over critical race theory in April of last year.
Kane had sent a letter to parents where she vowed to fight back against systemic racism in the school system and offered support for Black Lives Matter.
At a schoolboard meeting, Schifanelli told Kane she wanted to turn Maryland schoolchildren into social justice warriors and asked for proof that the school district was “some rampant, festering racist place.”
The Cox/Schifanelli campaign vows to end CRT and sexual indoctrination in the school system, as well as provide school choice.
Cox is also a vocal and public supporter of President Trump who has echoed his calls for strengthened election integrity following the 2020 election.
The Cox campaign has received overwhelming support from prominent Republican voices. State Senator Wendy Rogers (R-AZ) endorsed Cox, saying, “He is beloved by the grassroots, has fought for audits, supports President Trump and has been fighting for America First conservative issues his entire life. Dan Cox is pro 2nd Amendment, is against amnesty for illegals and stands for life.”
stands for life. Dan is the right choice for Maryland governor. Dan is worthy of the office and we need him – please help him all you can. (2/2)

Pennyslvania Gubernatoral candidate Doug Mastriano endorsed Cox, saying Maryland residents “can find no better man to lead your great state to the greatness that it should have.”
The Maryland gubernatorial primary election will take place July 19th.
A recent poll shows Cox leading Schulz by three points.
