Residents of Maine are organizing to stop their Democrat governor Janet Mills’ far-left policy platform, which includes her support for biological men competing in women’s sports.
President Donald Trump called out Mills at a recent meeting with governors, prompting Mills to snap back at Trump that she will see him in court. President Trump did not seem intimidated by the threat, and his supporters in the Pine Tree State are making their voices heard.
A Change.org petition to “Initiate the Recall of Governor Janet Mills” has racked up 24,381 signatures as of press time. Though the mainstream media reports that Maine does not have a “recall” mechanism against a sitting governor, the petition is a clear sign that Mainers are fed up with Mills. The transgender debate is a hot-button issue in Maine, owing in part to a transgender pole-vaulter winning a state championship in the female division.
Second-term governor Mills is term-limited and will not be running again in 2026, but the backlash to her policies could set the stage for Republicans to re-take power in the state.
MAGA protesters numbered in the hundreds outside the Maine State House in Augusta on Saturday to voice their displeasure with Mills’ anti-woman policy, and the MAGA crowd got some support from local politicos. Obviously, President Trump’s base is showing its power when it comes to advocating for Trump’s pro-Christian, pro-woman worldview.
“We pulled our boys out of school because this governor won’t allow children in classrooms unless they’re fully filled with toxins, not to mention what is being pushed to be taught to this generation of children. Now that agenda has been pushed for us to accept male athletes in female sports, this is an unfair advantage to our girls in female sports. Such hypocrisy from this individual that wouldn’t even allow Mainers to choose whether or not we wanted to wear a mask during Covid, it’s our bodies why couldn’t we choose? Also shutting down everything didn’t help either. My husband had just had surgery and he couldn’t attend physical therapy afterwards, his elbow never healed right-he doesn’t have full use of his arm now! Not to mention that he was let go from his job while he was on medical leave for said surgery, because his employer required him to be 100% to do his job! Such a shame to do this to anyone trying to work for a living. Tragedy struck when Mills took office! Mainers are hurting!,” Sheila from Otisville stated in the comments on the Change.org petition.
President Trump’s dressing-down of Janet Mills was pretty hilarious to watch.
