Exclusive video footage shows Covid-masked GOP Majority Leader and McCarthy-adjacent Speaker of the House candidate Steve Scalise running away in silence from National File when asked if he supports the defunding of Ukraine and the Biden DOJ’s anti-Trump witch hunts.
Steve Scalise refused to take any questions from National File reporters Patrick Howley and Charles Downs as he donned a Covid mask and left the Capitol Hill Club in Washington, D.C., with lawmakers in town to begin voting for a new Speaker of the House, after the historic removal of Kevin McCarthy by way of the Gaetz-filed Motion to Vacate.
Scalise, a close political ally of Kevin McCarthy and the sitting GOP Majority Leader, has been named as a top choice of the GOP establishment on Capitol Hill, to slide into his old boss’s position and effectively continue Kevin McCarthy’s failed speakership.
As Scalise exited the Capitol Hill Club, the Covid-masked Majority Leader, walking to a vehicle alongside a Covid-masked security team, refused to take any questions as Howley and Downs looked for answers on Ukraine, J6, and the Soviet-style DOJ.
“Steve, will you commit to stop Ukraine funding?”
“Congressman, will you release the J6 tapes? Will you defund the Trump prosecutions?”

While Scalise is considered a top establishment choice for Speaker of the House, Jim Jordan (R-OH) has also emerged as a potential candidate.
Though many on the right have issues with Jordan, who’s long been accused of much self-aggrandizing on Capitol Hill with little follow through, he has been largely opposed to funding Ukraine, unlike Scalise who, like Kevin McCarthy, has been a prolific supporter of U.S. taxpayer-funded Ukraine aid.
Ahead of the first round of speakership nominations, multiple GOP lawmakers and advocates have announced their support of 45th President Trump for Speaker, with Trump being seen by many as perhaps the only potential candidate who could truly take on the Biden DOJ and forever war military-industrial complex.
This follows several previous nominations of Trump for speaker back in January when Kevin McCarthy faced more than a dozen rounds of voting before finally being installed with less than 218 votes.
Though it had initially been reported that Trump would travel to Washington on Tuesday, ahead of the speakership vote, it is now being reported that he won’t.
On Friday, Trump endorsed Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House.
