Democrat House speaker Nancy Pelosi’s campaign committee provided a donation to a Democrat member of Congress who was on the fence about impeachment, and the member subsequently came out in favor of impeachment. Adam Schiff’s campaign committee also donated to the swing-district Democrat.
Rep. Xochitl Torres Small (D-NM) was long considered a “holdout” on supporting the Democrat impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump’s phone call with the president of Ukraine. Torres Small finally came out in support of the impeachment effort on October 10.
She made her decision after pocketing campaign cash from Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff.
“Nancy Pelosi For Congress” kicked Xochitl Torres Small a $2,000 donation on September 9, 2019, according to FEC filings.
As @Boomer4K notes, that was the same day the House Foreign Affairs, Intelligence, and Oversight Committees launched probes focused on President Trump’s Ukraine conduct.

Pelosi’s committee has donated $4,000 in total this cycle to Torres Small.
Claire Chase, a Republican running for Congress against Torres Small in New Mexico’s Second District, lambasted her Democrat opponent for accepting a cash donation from Adam Schiff’s committee Schiff for Congress, which pitched in $2,000 to her campaign back in June.
“Adam Schiff lining the pockets of vulnerable Democrats who represent districts won decisively by President Trump in 2016, such as Torres Small, in order to secure support for impeachment is the real quid pro quo here,” Claire Chase stated.
“This proves once and for all that this process has been a partisan-fueled sham from the beginning, and because of it, Adam Schiff has lost all credibility and Torres Small has completely lost the trust of her constituents. If Torres Small has any shred of decency left, she should immediately return the thousands of dollars she took from Adam Schiff and get back to doing her job – not wasting the remaining months she has left in Washington participating in this absurd witch hunt against our President,” Claire Chase stated.
The impeachment inquiry has been good fundraising business for Adam Schiff.
OpenSecrets reports: “Schiff also leads House members in contributions from publishers and is among the top recipients of money from the TV production and distribution industry. He received $1.9 million, or 44 percent of his campaign funds, from small-dollar donors.”
