Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) showed Attorney General Merrick Garland videos taken on January 5 and 6 showing a man, who many believe to be undercover federal law enforcement, urging those in Washington, D.C. to attend various protests to physically enter the Capitol building, persisting in his call even amid boos. Garland, with his voice shaking at times, refused to comment.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) pressed Garland on a seperate set of videos, depicting a strange man who many believe to be undercover law enforcement repeatedly urging protesters to go “inside the Capitol” on January 5 and 6. “I was hoping today to give you an opportunity to put to rest the concerns that people have that there were federal agents or assets of the federal government present on January 5th and January 6th,” said Rep. Massie. “How many agents or assets of the federal government were present on January 6, whether they agitated to go into the Capitol and if any of them did?”
Garland, again, nervously refused to comment. “I’m not going to violate this norm of, uh, of, of, uh, the rule of law. I’m not going to comment on an investigation that is ongoing.”

“I just played this video for AG Merrick Garland,” tweeted Rep. Massie after the confrontation. “He refused to comment on how many agents or assets of the federal government were present in the crowd on Jan 5th and 6th and how many entered the Capitol.”
Earlier, National File reported on the instance where Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) questioned Garland on the infamous video revealed by Bobby Powell showing two likely FBI informants who were filmed breaking windows, attacking the building, and even pushing people inside the US Capitol, who have not been charged with any crimes since.

“Were any of those people who broke glass and did damage to those doors working for the FBI or other federal law enforcement entities?” Gohmert asked the Attorney General. “I, uh, this is an ongoing criminal investigation and I’m really not at liberty to discuss, there have been some fillings, um, um, of, uh, in a nature of discovery, which has been provided to the defendants, but I, uh, other than that I can’t, uh, discuss this now,” replied Garland.
