Virginia GOP Lieutenant Governor Winsome Sears refused to back a 2024 Trump presidential campaign in an interview with the New York Post, saying that she wants to “see what he says” and “who else is out there” before throwing her support behind the 45th President.
In her recent New York Post interview, Sears applauded Trump’s support of historically black colleges and universities, as well as the impact of his economic policies on minority communities, but refused to say whether she will endorse him if he runs again in 2024.
“I’m going to hold my fire,” Sears told The Post. “I want to see what he says, what he does, and who else is out there.”
While the possibility of a Trump campaign and GOP nomination in 2024 is considered a sure thing by many, Sears’ running mate, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin, is being touted as a potential Trump alternative. Recently, Youngkin was reported to have met with a group of GOP mega-donors in New York City to discuss just that and has given a number of non-answers to the press when asked if he will contest Trump, who endorsed his Virginia campaign.

Deepening suspicion that Sears’ boss could take on Trump in 2024 is the fact that, behind the Youngkin-Sears ticket, which also included AG Jason Miyares, was Axiom Strategies. Axiom is the national consulting firm run by establishment campaign guru Jeff Roe, a close associate of Ted Cruz and Paul Ryan.

Sears has received much fanfare from GOP’ers across the country since her election last year but has faced criticism in the Commonwealth for her pivot towards the GOP establishment.
Speaking with National File, America First conservative and former 2nd District Congressional candidate Jarome Bell, who has taken on the GOP establishment first-hand, blasted Sears for just that.
“She’s controlled now,” Bell told National File. “She used to be a super Trump supporter but now she won’t even say if she’ll support a Trump 2024 run. I guess they’ve convinced her that the ‘Youngkin Model’ works. The fact is, the establishment and the Youngkin money model work. She can’t go against them. They saved her campaign financially in 2021 so now they control what she says and does.”
Bell went on to blast Winsome Sears for ignoring the cancel culture firing of Monique Miles, an outspoken black female conservative, from the Virginia Attorney General’s Office. Just weeks after the Youngkin ticket took office, newly-minted Virginia AG Jason Miyares fired Miles at the behest of the far-left Washington Post, the same day that the publication issued a hit piece on Miles’ pro-election integrity Facebook posts.

“I haven’t seen her come out in support of Monique Miles,” said Bell, “whose constitutional right to free speech was violated and defamed by Miyares to where she is suing. Where is Winsome Sears on this? What exactly has she done since being in office besides fall in line?”
“She is the darling of some people but just like Youngkin, the honeymoon period is over,” Bell went on to say, shining the light on growing conservative opposition to the Youngkin-Sears-Miyares Administration.
