A high-profile basketball player has come under fire after posting a video clip of Alex Jones on his social media.
NBA player Kyrie Irving reposted a 2002 video of Alex Jones where the controversial rightwing figure predicted a “New World Order” would release “plagues” upon the United States to manipulate society.
“The facts and common sense are in. Yes, there have been corrupt empires. Yes, they manipulate. Yes, there are secret societies. Yes, there have been oligarchies throughout history,” Alex Jones says in the video, originally posted by The Free Thought Project.
Jones called the New World Order a “tyrannical organization” which seeks to centralize and socialize health care to play the role of god in society.
“And yes, today in 2002, there is a tyrannical organization calling itself the New World Order pushing for worldwide government, a cashless society, total and complete tyranny. By centralizing and socializing health care the state becomes god basically when it comes to your health.”

“And, then by releasing diseases and viruses and plagues upon us, we then basically get shoved into their system where human beings are completely worthless,” Jones added.
The caption of the video reposted by Irving reads: “Back in 2002 an unknown community access television host named Alex Jones was warning the world about oligarchies, secret societies, cashless societies, and global government. Oh yeah, he also predicted CVD-1984. Maybe we should have listened?”
Social media users tore into Irving for sharing the video of Jones with his 17 million Instagram followers.

One social media called the video clip “deeply anti-Semitic” before demanding Irving be held accountable for his reposting of the post.
“People are dunking on Kyrie Irving for posting a clip of Alex Jones, but his ignorance is not funny. The ‘New World Order’ trope is deeply anti-Semitic and someone needs to hold him accountable for that,” Dan Wolken, a USA Today columnist, said on Twitter.
NBA commentator Cameron Tabatabaie called Irving’s actions “very hurtful and deeply unwise.”
.@KyrieIrving Alex Jones is a dangerous, dangerous man.
It’s very hurtful and deeply unwise to share a video like this on Instagram. pic.twitter.com/19yvTKh2U9
