Disgraced ex-GOP Rep. Denver Riggleman has cut an ad for Democrat incumbent Abigail Spanberger, whose re-election campaign in Virginia’s 7th District faces stiff opposition from America First candidate Yesli Vega.
Riggleman served one term as a GOP Congressman from Virginia’s 5th District before he was tossed out of office by his own party, losing a 2020 convention to current 5th District Rep. and Freedom Caucus member, Bob Good. While it’s unclear if Riggleman’s 2020 defeat has anything to do with his support of Spanberger, Rep. Bob Good has weighed in on the 7th District race as well and was an early supporter of Yesli Vega’s candidacy.
Notably, in the advertisement Riggleman cut with Abigail Spanberger, he still refers to himself as a “Republican Congressman,” despite not being a member of Congress and publicly announcing his exit from the Republican Party as a result.
“This is not a typical political ad,” says Riggleman. “I am a Republican Congressman saying nice things about a Democrat.”
Riggleman goes on in the ad to tout Abigail Spanberger’s supposedly “bipartisan” record that “puts country first,” picking up with a familiar line of the Spanberger campaign, which has sought to separate her from the Biden agenda, even though she votes for it 100% of the time.

Riggleman’s support of Rep. Spanberger is only the latest instance of his anti-conservative, anti-America First activism, which has made him persona non-grata among Virginia’s grassroots conservatives who once supported him.
After Riggleman lost his 2020 contest, he went to work for Nancy Pelosi’s J6 Committee as an unelected “senior staff member.” The role was apparently very befitting to Riggleman who, despite seeking office as a Libertarian-style Republican, now admits that before his brief time in Congress, he was an NSA domestic spy tasked with snooping through Americans’ private communications.
He’s even published a book about his role on the J6 Committee, in which he declares “war” on the American people.

Far from safe in her congressional seat, Abigail Spanberger faces a tough re-election battle this year, even though her district was gerrymandered by court order after complaints were raised that an independent redistricting committee had drawn a left-wing female incumbent out of the 7th.
In 2020, Spanberger was set to lose to challenger Nick Freitas until, miraculously, thousands of Democrat votes were discovered on a discarded thumb drive. That swung the 7th District for both Spanberger in the congressional race and Joe Biden in the presidential race.
