A daycare worker has been arrested and fired after physically abusing a child on camera following a minor altercation between the victim and another child.
Tiana McElveen, 24, has been charged with unlawful conduct towards a child after surveillance footage revealed her mistreating a five-year-old boy when she and another daycare worker intervened over a small fight that began between two children over a toy.
In the footage, McElveen and a co-worker walked in on the two young boys wrestling over a toy. McElveen intervenes, appearing to hit the boy and tossing him to the ground, as her co-worker stands idly by watching the incident.
McElveen has been released from her role at the Care-A-Lot day care facility in the 4200 block of Thomas Sumter Highway in South Carolina, according to the Sumter Item.
However, McElveen’s termination of employment from the daycare facility came after another incident. She had been confronted by another member of staff for making children eat food off the floor to “eat like dogs.” The company says McElveen treated staff disrespectfully following the confrontation concerning her behavior.
Since the incident, the Department of Social Services has been notified. McElveen was released after posting bail.
Conservative pundit Vincent James posted about the incident to Facebook with a caption that read: “Black woman targets White child at daycare facility. Tiana McElveen has been arrested. Imagine if this was reversed.”

The prevalence of crimes of this nature are ignored by the mainstream media, but, if the roles were to be reversed, these stories would become major mainstream stories.
Many other stories of this nature, involving a person within a position of power abuse and breach their trust, within a care role, have gained significant attention in the past year.
A man was recently arrested for beating and stealing a wedding ring from an Alzheimer’s patient within his care at a Michigan nursing home.
President Trump even tweeted about another incident from another Michigan nursing home that saw an elderly man brutally beaten by a young man staying at the facility. Merely weeks after the beating, the 75-year-old victim died of symptoms consistent with depression.
The investigation is ongoing.
