Video footage from a roundtable of hosts at the neoconservative internet publication The Daily Wire shows co-founder Jeremy Boering stating that taxes should be raised on the poor and lower middle class because they “don’t pay their fair share” compared to the ultra-wealthy.
During an episode of Daily Wire Backstage, Daily Wire co-founder and editor emeritus Ben Shapiro went on a rant about how the ultra-rich are unfairly persecuted.
“When he says that rich people don’t pay their fair share in this country, that is just an abject, disgusting lie,” Shapiro said. “It is a lie. The top ten percent of income earners in this country pay all net taxes, not some of the net taxes, all of the net taxes, because net taxes are defined as what you pay into the government minus what you get back fro the government.”
Daily Wire co-founder Jeremy Boering then chimed in with a hot take that left his co-hosts giggling in approval.
“The people who don’t pay their fair share in this country are the poor. We need to raise taxes on the poor. I’m not joking, I’m not joking, the poor in this country paid zero, the lower middle class in this country paid net zero,” Boering said.

“So we have a group who pay no taxes, a group of people who pay no net taxes, a group of people who pay all the net taxes, and his argument is that it’s category 3 who don’t pay their fair share,” Boering continued. “Fair share means your percentage of taxes. We’ve determined that there’s some people who shouldn’t pay any percentage of taxes, the only fair tax system is one in which everyone pays.”
