President Joe Biden was seen walking around outside while wearing his trademark oversized black face mask just a few hours after the Center for Disease Control admitted that masks are unnecessary for people who are outdoors. Biden was roundly mocked on social media for what many view as his nervous fanaticism about masks.
“Fully vaccinated people no longer need to wear a mask outdoors, except in certain crowded settings and venues,” the CDC stated this week. Biden was among the first people in the U.S. to be vaccinated.
On Tuesday, Biden walked around the White House grounds in the oversized face mask that he has become known for .
CDC just announced you don’t need to wear a mask outside and Joe Biden went outside within hours wearing a mask still. This is not about the science. pic.twitter.com/oLm1VB45lv

When Biden was asked why he wore the mask despite being outside and alone, he replied, “By watching me take it off and not put it back on until I get back inside [sic].”
"What message were you sending by wearing a mask outside alone?"

Biden was famously mocked by President Donald Trump during a presidential debate for his obsession with masks.
“I don’t wear a mask like him,” Trump said. “Every time you see him, he’s got a mask. He could be speaking two hundred feet away and he shows up with the biggest mask I’ve ever seen.”
Fox News host Tucker Carlson castigated the practice of mask wearing this week during his Monday monologue:
“Masks prevent intimacy and human contact. If I can’t see your face, I can’t know you,” Carlson noted on his eponymous television program. “Masks are for the guilty, they’re signifiers of shame and submission. Until recently, many jurisdictions had laws against wearing masks in public. Only Klansmen and armed robbers wore masks, the rest of us showed our face, we were free people. But then we gave in to the demands of people like Eric Garcetti, and because we did give in, this grotesque version of Halloween went on for a year and it’s still going on.”
“The only people who wear masks outside are zealots and neurotics,” Carlson added.
“If you dare to go on foot from Union Station into the Capitol, for example, in Washington without wearing a mask, angry Biden voters will snort at you in judgement,” Carlson said. “The rest of us should be snorting at them first, they’re the aggressors. It’s our job to brush them back and restore the society we were born in. So the next time you see someone in a mask on the sidewalk or on the bike path, do not hesitate — ask politely, but firmly, ‘Would you please take off your mask? Science shows there is no reason you should be wearing it. Your mask is making me uncomfortable.’”
