The Stew Peters Network shined the spotlight on the secret plans of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and Biden Administration to scrap funding for disabled veterans and their caregivers, stuffing America’s heroes into adult daycare facilities. After the whistle-blowing reporting effort, the Biden VA announced that they were reversing course, and preserving the funding, but further examination has raised serious questions about corruption of the worst order.
The Elizabeth “Liddy” Dole Foundation, led by the wife of former Bush 41 VP Bob Dole, herself a former GOP Senator and failed gubernatorial candidate, supposedly acts as an advocate organization for disabled veterans, their families, and their caregivers. While the foundation is classified as a private sector “non-profit,” it has great influence over how federal monies for veterans’ care are appropriated. According to publicly available salary information, some of its employees are making six-figure incomes.
In their role as an “advocate” for veterans’ caregivers and, apparently, a financial middleman, the Dole Foundation works arm-in-arm with healthcare giants and others who would greatly benefit from a more commercialized, corporate approach to veterans’ home healthcare.
Recently, The Stew Peters Network exposed the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s plans, in conjunction with the Biden Administration’s Department of Veterans Affairs, to gut a $1.9 billion program funding in-home care for America’s most severely disabled combat veterans. Had they been successful, tens of thousands of American veterans would be completely stripped of their personal caregivers and left reliant on the very commercial care facilities and services that the Dole Foundation is closely connected to.
Under the program they sought to chop, disabled veterans are cared for by a family member or loved one in their own home and, because their caregiver has usually given up their full-time employment to make it work, they’re issued a monthly stipend of between $600 and $3,000.
In addition to keeping families together, the program has run at a fraction of the cost of providing commercial care. For years, it’s been one of the very few federally-funded programs that people actually like.
Regardless, in conjunction with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation, which boasts close ties to the same commercial care agencies that would replace the personal caregivers with costlier, sub-par services, the Biden VA planned to gut the program.
When veterans and their families heard rumblings of the cuts and sought answers, they were stonewalled by the Dole Foundation and Biden government alike. When they went to mainstream media, seeking coverage of their story, they were ignored.
After learning of the devious plans to cut the caregiver program, Stew Peters Network host Richard Leonard launched an investigation and joined forces with attorney Ben Krause and the Veteran Warriors, a self-funded veteran and caregiver advocacy group that has been fighting cuts to the caregiver program for years.
Leonard and the Stew Peters Network’s reporting, along with Krause and the Veteran Warriors’ legal and public advocacy on the matter gave voice to a public pressure campaign that forced the Biden VA to change their policy.
This past week, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that the caregiver program would be extended for another three years, buying precious time for America’s veterans and their caregivers to fight to make the program permanent, which will require legislation.
Though the VA made their public announcement that the caregiver program would be spared on Thursday, the Stew Peters Network had sources telling them on Wednesday that, thanks to their activism on behalf of American veterans, the decision was set to come down.
“Tens of thousands of disabled veterans would have been left without the things that they need,” had the plans gone through, Peters said during a recent broadcast of The Stew Peters Show, announcing the massive victory over the back-stabbing federal government and crooked Dole Foundation.
Peters was joined in the segment by Richard Leonard, who is himself a Purple Heart veteran and the host of his own self-titled, Stew Peters Network show, which focuses on military and veteran issues.
“They were going to purge 90% of these caregivers out of the program, leaving veterans to go to adult daycares because their wives, or whoever is taking care of them, spouses, have to go back to work,” Leonard said.
“This program has a lot of contractors that provide services, whether it be physical therapy or any other kind of service that you’d get in-home,” Leonard explained. “A lot of them seem to be connected to the Elizabeth Dole Foundation one way or another.”
In addition to changing federal policy, the Stew Peters Network’s reporting put the corrupt Elizabeth Dole Foundation on notice.
Since the investigations from the Stew Peters Network and veteran advocates into the Dole Foundation began, the group has started deleting information from its website and scrubbing its servers.
“The Elizabeth Dole foundation [is] sucking money in,” Leonard said. “And by the way, we have information to lead us to believe that they are scrubbing servers, they are shredding paperwork – ever since this pressure started.”
“We’re going to get to the bottom of that,” Leonard added.

Speaking to the importance of the work done by the Stew Peters Network in exposing the Liddy Dole Foundation and Biden Administration’s plans to pull the rug out from under American heroes and their families is Nancy Connolly.
Connolly is the wife of a permanently disabled US veteran, who was set to have his caregiver taken from him under the Dole-Biden plans.
“I’m the wife of a 100% disabled United States Armed Forces Veteran who has been forgotten by the country he served, abused by the Biden Administration, and tossed to the side by the VA,” said Connolly. “I’m in tears right now. What The Stew Peters Network did for tens of thousands of disabled vets by exposing this horrific assault on servicemen and their caregivers is truly heroic.”
“Stew’s network is responsible for literally saving their lives by shining a light onto the Biden Administration and Liddy Dole Foundation’s secret plan to cut funding to those vets,” Connolly went on. “I’m so truly thankful to Stew Peters and the Richard Leonard Show.”
While the veteran caregiver program has been extended for three years, it will require legislation to be made permanent. Speaking with National File, the Stew Peters Network’s Richard Leonard said that he’s going to continue investigating the attempted program slashing and keep fighting for his fellow veterans.
“This is something that we’re going to diligently cover because it’s important to honor our veterans and the promises we made to them. These men and women have sacrificed everything,” Leonard told National File.
As for the potential corruption behind the scenes at the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and the Biden VA, Leonard says that “we are going to dig and find out the truth, and it’s going to come out.”
