Following the news of her untimely death at the hands of DC Police, Axelrod, a pro-Trump Twitter personality, revealed he was a close friend of Babbit’s. Speaking exclusively to National File, he said he was “devastated” by her death.
“She was someone that did not judge me,” he said. “She was the ear I never had. She was not antifa or some far-right winger.”
Axelrod tweeted the last texts he shared from Babbit, when she was on the plane on the way to the DC protests. “Be safe. I cannot lose you,” wrote Axelrod. “I’ll watch my 6,” Babbit replied.
Axelrod wrote that Babbit and her husband were simply libertarians who “wanted to be left alone.”

Ashli Babbit proudly served our country for 14 years.
And she was murdered for expressing her First Amendment rights. We will never forget her pic.twitter.com/oEvJtmlCql

DC Police murdered a veteran in cold blood today, but there won't be any vigils for her like George Floyd. She won't get a plaza dedicated to her. She won't even have her name mentioned on the House floor & given a moment of silence.
Never forget what they did to Ashli Babbit!
