According to a report from We Got This Covered, Amber Heard–who has recently risen to infamy over her messy divorce with Hollywood actor Johnny Depp–has been fired from her role in Aquaman 2, after a petition calling for her axing reached nearly half a million signatures.
The petition calling for her removal–after Depp had his name dragged through the mud and was blacklisted, despite headlining many blockbuster movies in a career spanning several years–amassed over 400,000 signatures.
A #AmberHeardIsFired hashtag began trending after further details emerged after her messy marriage with the man who played Capt. Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of The Caribbean movies.
The former Aquaman star could face three years behind bars for manipulating evidence against her ex-husband in a $50 million defamation suit. Heard physically and emotionally abused Depp for years, with one incident slicing off the tip of the ‘Edward Scissorhands‘ actor’s finger when she lobbed a bottle of vodka at him during a heated argument.
At present, Heard is considered “uninsurable,” being in a similar position to Robert Downey Jr when he battled his demons with drug abuse in the 90s.
Epic Stream reported: “rumor has it that Heard has been fired from the DC Extended Universe. Warner Brothers has allegedly axed the actress from Aquaman 2, buying out her current contract to work for the DCEU.”
Although the coronavirus has hit the movie business hard, Aquaman 2 is set to premiere on December 16, 2022. The two-year period between now and the release date will give director James Wan time to fill in the empty shoes left behind by Heard’s untimely exit.
