Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz called out Governor Ron DeSantis for his refusal to stand up and assert the rights of his state to stop the anticipated extradition of President Trump to New York on phony charges that are being pursued by Alvin Bragg, Manhattan’s Soros-funded District Attorney, ahead of the 2024 Presidential Election.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has the power to step in and halt the extradition of President Trump from his Mar-a-Lago home if and when he is indicted by Soros-funded Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg on phony, politicized charges, but has already made clear that he isn’t willing to do it.

Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz called on Governor DeSantis to use that power if an extradition order for President Trump comes through, saying that failing to do so “puts every Floridian at risk” of political persecution from blue city prosecutors.
“If I were Governor of Florida, I would not allow any Floridian to be hauled before some Soros-backed prosecutor in some blue city over politics, and I wouldn’t make an exception to not protect the President of the United States,” Rep. Gaetz told News Nation in a Wednesday morning interview, as charges against President Trump in New York City are expected to be announced at any time.
“Ron DeSantis should be standing in the breach to stop any sort of extradition of President Trump from the State of Florida,” Rep. Gaetz went on. “And the fact that he’s not doing so puts every Floridian at risk who could be the subject of a false allegation.”
“I know Ron DeSantis well, he’s a friend, but he hasn’t been the target of false and persistent allegations like President Trump has and so I don’t think he really understands the nature of this fight right now,” Gaetz said, referring to the media’s lack of interest in attacking the Florida Governor who the establishment hopes will unseat President Trump atop the GOP.
Addressing comments DeSantis made this week, in which he mocked the phony charges being pursued against President Trump and said he wouldn’t intervene in the extradition process, Gaetz told News Nation that “it was a bit uncouth” for DeSantis to “take a jab at the former President.”
“There’s a role for the Governor of Florida here,” Gaetz said.
“To stand up for our state, for the rule of law, and to push back against the Sorosization of the criminal justice system.”
