Yesterday Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) sparred with the polarizing Anthony Fauci for a third time in the U.S. Senate, when he offered Fauci the opportunity to retract his previous statements claiming that he did not fund “Gain-of-Function” experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology via the NIH. Fauci seemed to claim that the definition of Gain-of-Function has apparently changed since Fuaci allowed the funding, and repeatedly called Paul a liar. Now, Paul says that researchers are afraid to question Fauci, as he controls their funding through the NIH, and says he is asking for a criminal referral into Fauci for lying to Congress.
In an appearance on the increasingly left wing Fox News, Paul declared that Fauci “has a significant conflict of interest. Since he was indeed at the top of the food chain, and he did approve funding to the NIH to the Wuhan lab, that’s not even contested.
He knows that he approved the funding, all he’s saying is that the research now doesn’t meet our definition.” Paul explained, “When you read the NIH definition of gain of function, and you talk to other scientists, they’re saying it’s the epitome of gain of function. He is dancing around the truth.” (READ MORE: Rand Paul Accuses Fauci Of Lying To Congress, Funding Wuhan ‘Gain-of-Function’ Research That Started Pandemic)
“Why?” Paul queried, “Because if this disease came from a lab and they were funding gain of function, guess what, there’s, at the very least, a moral culpability he has for the beginning of the pandemic. If you go back to Fauci’s statements in 2012, he said that the research was worth it even if a pandemic should occur. Even if a leak from a lab should occur, the research was worth it.”
He added that, predictably, the left wing mainstream media celebrated Fauci’s ad hominem attacks against Paul because “Fauci controls all the funding, and the media is all on his side.” The senator added, “He’s been there for 40 years, probably 39 years too long, but he controls all the funding, so people are deathly afraid of him. Researchers will not speak out.”
Later yesterday, in an appearance on Sean Hannity’s program – it is noteworthy that Hannity is now pushing controversial COVID-19 vaccinations while Paul says those who have recovered from COVID-19 and thus have a natural immunity and do not need vaccinations – to promise to pursue criminal action against the man once called “America’s Doctor”.
After Hannity asked Paul if he believes that Fauci is guilty of perjuring himself before Congress, something that once saw former Trump advisor Roger Stone convicted and facing prison, Paul replied, “I will be sending a letter to the Department of Justice asking for a criminal referral, because he has lied to Congress.”
