Recent polling shows President Donald Trump greatly expanding his lead on Ron DeSantis in the 2024 GOP primary. Polling in Florida shows Trump leading DeSantis as well. With recent polling news in mind, Trump took to TruthSocial on Monday to lay the gauntlet down on Ron DeSantis.
In a Monday post on TruthSocial, Trump highlighted that Republican voters by huge margins prefer him to DeSantis, writing, “Ron DeSantis is a young man who is not doing well against me in the polls, to put it mildly. I believe that if he decides to run for President, which will only hurt and somewhat divide the Republican Party, he will lose the cherished and massive MAGA vote, and never be able to successfully run for office again. If he remains Governor, which is what Florida voters assumed, it would be a whole different story….JUST SAYIN’- But who knows?”
Trump also shared a poll from Victory Polling that shows Trump beating DeSantis in Florida by a considerable margin of 47-32%. Trump wrote a caption over the Victory Polling numbers that read, “JUST OUT: I guess Ron DeSantis is not quite as popular in Florida as people thought. I assume, among other things, that they don’t want their Social Security and MediCare cut!”
Trump has surged in 2024 presidential polling since becoming the first president in American history to be arrested. Most national 2024 GOP Primary polls have Trump beating DeSantis by at least 25 points. Recent national polls for the general election show Trump beating Biden by as much as 7 points. A 7-point win by Trump would equate to a giant electoral college win for Trump.
DeSantis has faced criticism from Republican voters for bringing on allies of Jeb Bush and Paul Ryan into his orbit. Jeb Bush was notably front and center at DeSantis’ inauguration for his second term of governor in 2023.
Today Governor Ron DeSantis was inaugurated for his “second term” that we all know he won’t complete because he’s running against Trump in 2024.
He invited Jeb Bush to be front and center at the inauguration. He was one of DeSantis’s guests of honor.

Many suspect DeSantis will announce a run for president soon.
