Mainstream media outlets, along with the heads of Modena and Pfizer, are raising the prospect of a fourth COVID-19 vaccine injection. This comes as vaccinated individuals continue to be infected with coronavirus.
Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel on Thursday said that triple vaccinated people may need yet another “booster” injection due to the supposedly “effective” vaccines’ decline in “efficacy.”
Bancel said that the third injection may wear off “over the course of several months, similar to what happened with the first two doses,” prompting a fourth injection after winter subsides, according to a report by CNBC.
“I will be surprised when we get that data in the coming weeks that it’s holding nicely over time — I would expect that it’s not going to hold great,” Bancel said, referring to the strength of the booster shots.
Bancel said governments, like the United Kingdom and South Korea, have already begun ordering the fourth dose in preparation.
“I still believe we’re going to need boosters in the fall of ’22 and forward,” Bancel said, adding that people who are older or have underlying health conditions might need annual booster injections for years to come.
“We have been saying that we believe first this virus is not going away,” Bancel said. “We’re going to have to live with it.”
The CNBC report shockingly admitted that “the efficacy of booster shots starts to decline after about four weeks,” according to a study by the U.K. Health Security Agency.
Last month, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla made similar statements about a fourth dose of the injection.
“When we see real-world data, will determine if the omicron is well covered by the third dose and for how long. And the second point, I think we will need a fourth dose. I’ve said that multiple times,” Bourla said.
Several mainstream media outlets have published reports pushing the fourth COVID-19 vaccine injection, including CNBC, Fox Business, Reuters, New York Times, Washington Post, and Business Insider.
Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration changed the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Moderna vaccine injection, shortening the time between the completion of a primary series of the vaccine and a booster dose to at least five months for people ages 18 and older.
The move was made to apparently “help reduce waning immunity.”
Israel recently rolled out the fourth COVID-19 vaccine injection to their population, despite experts warning that too many injections may cause what was described as “immune system fatigue.”
Despite this, Israel has now seen more COVID-19 cases than ever before; a staggering 16,115 new infections.
