A person who attended a self-styled “Coronavirus Party” has tested positive for coronavirus, according to Kentucky Governor, Andy Beshear (D).
The report comes after there has been a spike in defiant party animals hosting “Coronavirus Parties” all over the world, with such parties being advertised on social media in Spain, USA, and Belarus.
On a Tuesday conference, Beshear said: “We have a positive test from someone who attended a coronavirus party.” he added, “We ought to be much better than that.”
“Anyone who goes to something like this may think they’re indestructible, but it’s someone else’s loved one that they are going to hurt,” he said.
The Democratic governor also said that a “group of young adults in their 20s who I guess were thinking they were invincible,” when stating the report, according to The Hill.
He also warned that younger people may be asymptomatic or suffer lighter symptoms while being a vector for the virus, potentially infecting older or immunocompromised individuals.
Five undeterred partygoers at the University of Tampa tested positive after returning from a controversial Spring Break.
“For those folks who thought, ‘We’d be all right if we got it,’ what about everybody else you’ve seen?” Beshear asked.
“We need everybody doing the right thing,” he added.
Beshear’s state, Kentucky, according to The Hill, has reported over 150 confirmed cases, with several new cases being reported every day.
WKRN reported that Beshear also said: “This is one that makes me mad, and it should make you mad,” as the attendees allegedly mocked social guidelines.
