President Donald Trump scored another big victory Monday when the mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, declared that Trump’s home city will close down the migrant shelter at the Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan.
President Trump’s power is evident, considering that even liberal New York City is now bowing to his will.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced Monday that the city will close the Asylum Seeker Arrival Center at the Roosevelt Hotel, a site that was the frequent target of criticism from Elon Musk and the Tump administration.
Over 173,000 migrants completed registrations at the Manhattan hotel since its opening in May 2023, accounting for nearly three quarters of the 232,000 migrants who entered the city since the spring of 2022, the Adams administration reported.
Even though he is a Democrat, mayor Eric Adams has spoken out against the flood of illegal migrants swarming into his city. Perhaps it’s no coincidence, then, that Adams was criminally charged for alleged corruption crimes including accepting a bribe. President Trump’s Department of Justice wants prosecutors in the Southern District of New York to drop the charges against Adams, but multiple lawyers resigned instead of carrying out Trump’s will.
President Trump made fun of the charges against Adams in his comedy routine at the Al Smith Dinner in 2024. It’s obvious that Trump thinks Adams is getting railroaded for not toeing the Democrat party line. Is President Trump now in control of New York City? We shall see!
