While on CNBC Tuesday morning, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy repeated a debunked Team DeSantis lie that Trump cannot win the general election. McCarthy’s top ally, Marjorie Taylor Greene, did not respond to National File’s request for comment on Speaker McCarthy’s statement.
McCarthy told CNBC, “The question is, is he the strongest to win the election? I don’t know that answer.”

Georgia Congresswoman MTG has been a strong supporter of both McCarthy and Trump. Following McCarthy’s Tuesday comments, members of Congress must now choose if they are on Team Trump or Team McCarthy/DeSantis.
NationalFile reached out to Marjorie Taylor Greene for comment asking, “Will MTG publicly condemn McCarthy for his refusal to back Trump and Is there anything MTG can do to entice Kevin to back Trump?” MTG did not respond to these questions.
Laura Loomer called on Trump to end McCarthy’s career, tweeting, “It’s time for President Trump to stop playing the game with @SpeakerMcCarthy and just destroy McCarthy’s career while he can.”

National File previously reported that Ron DeSantis told Silicon Valley McCarthy donors that he is against tariffs on China. The facts suggest that McCarthy will throw his support behind DeSantis. Trump-supporting members of Congress must vacate the chair to avoid a potential catastrophe.
