High-ranking Pentagon officials reportedly cheered Tucker Carlson’s departure from Fox News, prompting Ohio Senator J.D. Vance to raise concerns about their conduct.
One Pentagon official told Politico the United States is a better country now that Tucker has departed Fox saying, “We’re a better country without him bagging on our military every night in front of hundreds of thousands of people.”
Another Pentagon official said “Good riddance” when describing Tucker’s departure from Fox.
“Carlson “made a mockery” of the free press and “repeatedly cherry-picked department policies and used them to destroy DoD as an institution” another Pentagon official told Politico.
Politico also reported that Pentagon officials were asked if they were pleased with Tucker Carlson’s departure and apparent firing, one Pentagon official responded with, “Ha! I’m sure.”
Ohio Senator J.D. Vance became concerned with the Pentagon officials’ statements writing, “Every “senior Pentagon official” who commented on this story while hiding behind anonymity is a coward. Call me old fashioned, but senior military officials should maintain neutrality about hot-button political topics. And they certainly shouldn’t run to one media outlet to gossip—anonymously—about another.”

Trump 2020 spokesman Steve Cortes committed on the Pentagon officials’ conduct by saying, “Question: do we have a republic? Consider that… a. Senate Majority Leader explicitly calls for Tucker’s removal from Senate floor b. Carlson gets bounced c. Pentagon brass cheers the firing.”

J.D. Vance was one of the first members of the United States House or Senate to comment on the Pentagon officials’ conduct. Many GOP Senators and members of Congress have yet to comment on the Pentagon’s officials’ reported conduct, including GOP Senate Leader Mitch McConnel and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
Donald Trump has criticized Pentagon leadership, calling them woke and weak. Trump has also pledged to rebuild our military.
